Q: Could the Flood Have Been "Local"?

Question:

I saw a video (I couldn't get the URL) where an atheist challenged the veracity of the account of Noah's flood in Genesis. He reasoned that it couldn't have been true because of the existence of animal species endemic to Australia.  I don't doubt the Biblical account, and I came up with an explanation that I think might be consistent with the evidence. I figured that Noah's flood might have only been local, but big enough to destroy all human life apart from Noah's family. Since the dispersal and migration of people with similar languages happened after the flood when human population has sufficiently recovered (Genesis 11), then it's possible that the flood didn't need to be universal.  It simply needed to be big enough to destroy the existing human population at the time, which I assume would've been relatively small and concentrated in a certain locality.  Assuming this is how it happened, then the flood wouldn't have needed to be universal. This would've allowed for animal species endemic to Australia to not need to be in the arc. I figured this is as good an explanation as any, but I'll be the first to admit that this is highly speculative. Please let me know your thoughts.  Thanks.

Q: Are Mormons Sincere in Their Faith? Are They Just Deceiving Us?

Question:

My brother recently vacationed in Utah and visited some of the Mormon sites, including the Mormon Tabernacle. He was quite convinced that they are Christian. I explained to him that they are not and introduced him to your website. Question he asked was about the Mormon Tabernacle choir. They sing Christian music, including songs we hear in our church, and of course their famous Christmas concerts. Is this part of their deception? Do they believe they are Christian? One more item. Do preachers such as Joel Osteen, Creflo Dollar, Joyce Meyer, etc. truly believe what they are preaching is Biblical? Do they not fear they will be judged on what they are doing? Mark

Q: Did Jesus Plagiarize Confucius?

Question:

A skeptic has claimed to me that the Christian saying "Do unto others" (what we call our "Golden Rule") was actually plagiarized by the Bible writers from something originally taught by Confucius. Are you familiar with this?  I doubt this is true, since no source could be provided, but I have to ask.

Is it OK for a Christian to Grow Marijuana for Medical Purposes?

Question:

A friend I am studying the Bible with is growing marijuana in his back yard and says he sells it for medical purposes only. I am calling him to relinquish his marijuana business and he is willing to give it up eventually, but not right now. He is saying he wants to make one last sale in October before he can close out his business. I am asking him to do it immediately  by showing him repentance scriptures like Acts 19:19 that calls for immediate and decisive repentance. I am worried about his heart condition. What would your advice be?  Thanks a lot.
