Every since 2008, we've had a special series designed to propel us into a spiritual new year. These are audio lessons with notes that are designed to be used for personal quiet times. The 2018 series entitled "A Tour Through John" takes a 50-day journey through the book of John as well as 1-3 John. The units average about 20 minutes, just right if you have to go to work early, or want to listen as you commute (each lesson can be downloaded).
Here is the INB for this week!
The International News Bulletin is a service to help connect disciples and churches around the world. Each week we present a new template dated for the coming Sunday. You can now provide your group an international news with your local news included.
Just download this template which has news from around the world and links to more stories on DisciplesToday.org. For the other side of your bulletin, you can download the attached template for local news and stories in your ministry, house church, etc. This makes for an easy "Page 2" for your local congregation's bulletin! If you already have a bulletin, you can simply print the INB as a two-sided insert to your current publication.
This is an article written by my friend Jeannine Loftus. Jeannine has been through many trials so she is acquainted with suffering and grief. I asked her to write about what it takes to help others through difficult times, and how to help people grow. -- Lory Demshar
I begin this review with a disclaimer—I don't generally like movies that are based on the Bible. There are exceptions like The Ten Commandments or The Passion of the Christ. I tend to view these movies with my scholarly glasses firmly planted on my face. Thus I compare the movie to the biblical text, and what movie can live up to the beauty, genius, and truth of the biblical text?
The Indianapolis Church of Christ recently completed a three-part series entitled "Lessons from Elijah." Each class is approximately 50 minutes with the first two classes containing a downloadable handout.
When a life event triggers Elijah's emotions, what was his journey and how did God restore him? "Elijah was a man just like us." --James 5:17
"...and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ..." – 1 Peter 3:21 (NIV)

God's desire is for us, his children, to run free. Yet this freedom is illusive to many who struggle to overcome sexual sin and other heart attachments. God calls us into his word to learn the biblical principles needed to walk the path to freedom. Over the past ten years Pure and Simple has been the spirit's invitation for many who needed to find the hope, courage, and help to begin or sustain their journey to freedom. Please join us on Saturday, May 5th for this one day conference devoted to purity.
