January 5, 2009 - An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 rocked the Indonesian province of West Papua on Sunday, January 4, 2009. The quake was centered about 95 miles west-northwest of Manokwari, Indonesia and about 105 miles east-northeast of Sorong.

Dr. King’s vision of a beloved community will come to fruition as people of different races, creeds and ages gather on Monday, January 19 to improve their communities to commemorate his birthday. In this spirit, more than 3,000 HOPE worldwide Los Angeles volunteers from across Southern California region making it a day of service.
Employees and friends of HOPE worldwide are taking this opportunity to start the new year by praying for the poor continuously from January 1-7, 2009, 24 hours a day, in different parts of the world.
