Kiev, Ukraine June 14-16
I arrive in Kiev after 24 hours of travel. I am met by Lyosha and Inna, who do administrative work for the church. I am staying at a hostel on the largest technical university here in Ukraine. I get some time with Roma, who leads the campus ministry here. We get to share our love for God and vision for his churches. In the evening I take part in a campus devotional. There are about 100 university students in the group. Their summer is just getting started and they are really encouraged to be able to hire eight summer interns to gain some further momentum for the campus group.
Good news keeps coming from all corners of the world. On June 16, 50 people were baptized in Ayodya Beach at the Ayodya Hotel in Nusa Dua, Bali. It was a great start to the Asian Discipleship Summit (ADS). Yes, it is indeed very good news to hear more people committed their lives to Christ.
Nine disciples from across the US flew to Japan on June 7, 2016. The purpose of this "American Ninja" team was to save souls, encourage the Japanese disciples and to build unity in a fractured world.
Dear brothers and sisters,
Here's a short video about the latest news from the European Bible School. We had a wonderful session in Prague on the topic, "The Spirit of Christian Counseling" with Scott Green, Micha Brück and Thierry Fender as teachers.
From May 30 to June 28, a team of us from the North River Church of Christ will be serving in Accra, Ghana. Brody and Brooke Snell will lead nine college students for the four‐week internship to reach out on the campuses in Accra and to strengthen the church while they do it. I will go for the first week to work together with the leadership of the Accra Christian Church to establish a strong relationship between our two congregations. My daughter Christine is also going, and looks forward to playing with kids in the church’s children’s ministry and learning from the college students in their campus ministry.
“I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” -- Acts 13:47
Are you ready to “step out on faith” to serve? Does the dream to “go anywhere”, “do anything” and “give up everything” still burn inside you? Whether you are young or young of heart, in college or empty nesters, God has the perfect place for you in Oregon! Oregon might sound like “the ends of the earth” to you, but perhaps it’s “the new beginning” that you have always dreamed about?
Despite being a place renowned for its bone-chilling winters, the city of Fairbanks, Alaska is experiencing the true warmth of God’s love.
The Great Land Christian Church – Fairbanks, just planted in September 2015, has been working hard to reach people and help them to get to know God in new and exciting ways. And God has certainly blessed our efforts!
My 95-year-old dad, Ed Johnson, was baptized in Florida on his 95th birthday on April 23, 2016.
We showed this video at North River two weeks ago, and so many people told me how it has encouraged them to believe their parents will become disciples regardless of their age. Many have taken encouraging steps to share their stories and their love again with their parents. It has given many hope again and increased their faith.
