After nearly a year of attending to church, studying the Bible and spending time with our campus ministry, Huáscar is now our brother in the faith. Rodrigo Solíz and Jose (Junior) Zavala shared before his baptism how they admired Huáscar's desire to learn more about God and the Scriptures. Despite coming from another church, he was convinced that following Jesus was something serious.
Huáscar shared how the brothers helped him to humble to God and his Word and gave many thanks to everyone involved in the process of helping him understand this new life as a disciple of Jesus.
The campus service committee recently met near Los Angeles for our annual gathering that has become our vehicle to set the stage for campus work during the rest of the year. Upon the agenda was the review of campus plantings last year as well as those to be planted in 2016. We reviewed our objectives for Reach2016 and discussed plans for our campus conferences in 2017 and 2018. Updates were given regarding the One Year Challenge as well as the resurgence of the campus HOPE Youth Corps. We discussed at length the development of our nearly 200 full-time campus ministers. Finally, everyone discussed the incredible international efforts going on to raise up and plant campus ministries overseas.
On January 23 at the Bariga police station, the Lagos campus ministry served in their first benevolence outreach event of 2016.
The Johannesburg Church of Christ is excited to announce the 2016 South African Campus Corps entitled Encounter: South Africa. We are inviting college students from our worldwide fellowship to come to Johannesburg from July 11 - August 8, 2016 to encounter our beautiful culture, people, and South African wildlife, and more importantly, to be equipped and empowered to help the tens of thousands of university students throughout South Africa to encounter the true Jesus Christ.
This past weekend Los Angeles and San Diego campus ministries gathered together for an inspiring Fall Retreat entitled "Rise." We were truly called to rise above limitations, above distractions and above the status quo.
We are excited to share about our first South American campus ministry retreat in from October 29-31, 2015 held in La Paz, Bolivia. We had 53 disciples from Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and the US . During these three days the disciples from campus ministries received classes, worshipped God, evangelized the university, served the poor, grew up in their relationships and of course had lots of fun.
This past weekend, many gathered from around the Southeast US for an enriching conference, Compelled 2015. The title of the conference was drawn from the scripture, " " -- 2 Corinthians 5:14-15. This idea of the love of Christ us is what each lesson centered around the entire weekend, and it was fantastic!

Born in Ojota, Lagos State on April 25, 1992 to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Udeme and Ufon Akpan, was a baby girl whose academic journey began as a two-year-old at Mictec International School, Ogudu Road, Ojota, Lagos.
The South African churches have launched an annual "Encounter" program for disciple students who would like to come and be a part of an African campus ministry experience. Students must fund themselves to get to South Africa but once there, they will be housed, fed and trained. They will then split up into "mission team"-sized groups and spread out onto the South African campuses.
