Manuary - The month of January which comes after "NoShaveNovember" and "Decembeard."
"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." -- Proverbs 4:23
Pure and Simple VII is returning to Chicago from November 6-8, 2015. Come join a group of brothers and sisters from around the world who have sought God with all of our hearts to be victorious over sexual sin and the devastating effects that it has had on our lives and our loved ones. We have become a family who loves to meet together and hold out hope.
I have several friends I know who are serving on missions trips in Africa, South America, and Eastern Europe. They are taking the gospel to all nations. Every year at conferences, I talk to campus disciples who are willing to go but do not have the resources to do so. I asked myself the question, "What would it take to help those who want to go, go?"
As the daddy-daughter dances wrap up for the year, warmer temperatures give families opportunities to spend time outdoors. Family camping trips with fishing boating and hiking are all family favorites. There is a lot of planning that goes into family vacations to make sure it will be fun and memorable. I wonder if Jesus was thinking the same thing when he revealed himself to his disciples. They already called him "Master," but they did not see who he really was.
It is 2015! With a New Year comes new goals and dreams. We seek to understand where God is leading us and are open to new possibilites.
Even with new goals and dreams, we are hesitant to take action because or just don't know where to begin. The biggest fear I have is feeling incompetent and wishing I had someone to lead me, train me, teach me, and inspire me to reach my new goals.
The 2014 International Singles Conference gave a call to elevate your hearts and minds on God above. The climb up a mountain is much like our spiritual journey to perservere and overcome. As you get closer to the top of a mountain, the air gets thinner and thinking becomes cloudy. A guide is a must, if you are going to make it to the top and back down alive. No matter how independent we think we are as men, we need other men to guide us and help us make it to the summit.

Whatever mountain you are preparing to climb, make sure you have the right gear and the right guide.

Our weaknesses are clearly visible. Even though I spend a majority of my time in denial about my weak spots they surface when I am tired and stressed. But when opportunities arise for me to be righteous and overcome that sin I know will tempt me, I still fall short.
The article above is a Bible Gateway devotional written as part of a Men's Devotional Series.
We all know the story of Samson found in Judges 16:1–31. After reading through the devotional I thought about how disgusted I get thinking about how hard-headed Samson is. He doesn't care about anyone but himself. He thinks he is invincible and then he falls for a trap he saw coming but walked into it anyways.
Wait! Isn't that what I do? I get angry or impatient and say hurtful things. I make poor choices because I think it won't come back to haunt me. I clearly have my short-comings, but instead of facing them alone, I can face them with God and a brother, a friend, or a loved one.
With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).
I pray that you are able to recognize a weakness you have, see the traps that you normally walk into, have someone to hold you accountable. To God be the glory.
Another year has gone by and it is time again to get ready for the Jeff Balsom Memorial Softball Tournament.
