Disciple in NIU Campus Shooting

Written by  Roger Lamb -- Chicago, Illinois Thursday, 14 February 2008 20:29

It is believed that a disciple from the campus ministry of the Chicago Church of Christ at Northern Illinois University was among the victims of the classroom shooting on Thursday.

On Valentine's Day, a gunman opened fire in a large classroom on the campus of NIU, killing 5 and wounding 16 more before he turned the gun on himself.

Few details are known about the disciple who was injured at this time. Disciples Today will publish updates as soon as we receive them.

Please be praying for the families of all those involved, including the gunman and his victims. (Photo by Northern Star Staff)

Editor's Note: Charles Ham, Director of HOPE worldwide Indonesia sends his condolences as an NIU alumnus who became a Christian while a student there.

I would like to offer my family's deepest sympathy & condolence to all family members of victims of Northern Illinois University Shooting on Valentine's Day 2008.

As an alumni , I cannot imagine what it would be like if the event would took place while I was in the Cole Auditorium some 15 years ago. I took several classes in the same auditorium of the shooting place in the past.

DeKalb has been a great, safe, and memorable campus during my four years there. All respects to the Campus police who took actions to prevent further casualties.

This type of anger bursting crime is outrages and has to stop, what the world would be for our next generation.

Our prayers to the students and their families as they are passing through a tough time.

Charles M. Ham
