Hiking the Trail

IMG 3605Hiking! There is something about that word that I love. It is full of enthusiasm and adventure. I love the word because of the incredible memories I have had being in God's creation. There are so many metaphors that come to mind as I walk purposely down a trail, following a map or the signs placed along the way. The metaphor that resonates with me the most is the parable of the narrow and wide gates.

"But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it" – Matthew 7:14.

I would like to share a story about five men who went to Machu Picchu in the Peruvian Andes, to hike the narrow trails. They used the book Warrior by Sam Laing to lead their discussions. The more they discovered about their heart, the more they were able to share and inspire one another to be the man God wants them to be. Read the full story here.

In John 14:16, Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

And so, as I travel down the trail that has been traveled by few before me, I rejoice that I am on the trail. I am thankful that Christ has showed me the way and that there are others on the path with me. Friends, brothers, warriors!
