Primary purpose of job

The Development Officer will help bring vital resources to those in need by providing support to the Development department of HOPE worldwide. Reporting to the Director of Development, the ideal candidate will be a hard worker with strong attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills, preferably with experience in nonprofit management, database management or fundraising.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Produce monthly and other specialized revenue reports designed to track and analyze Development revenue
  • Manage HOPEww’s monthly giving program – process transactions bi-weekly, maintain consistent communication with recurring donors
  • Maintain and steward donor relationships, providing information, expressing gratitude and sharing the vision of HOPEww
  • Write and edit copy for fundraising appeals
  • Manage application process for annual Combined Federal Campaign and multiple state campaigns
  • Verify and manage employee giving donations and employer matching gifts
  • Provide technical and administrative assistance for online fundraising campaigns
  • Create and manage all donation/payment forms and webpages
  • Pull and edit mailing file for quarterly newsletters and appeals
  • Design and implement specialized communication and acknowledgement initiatives for specialized donor segments (first time contributors, individual via corporate donors)
  • Provide donation information for annual audit and state filings
  • Analyze donor base and specialized mailing lists annually
  • Oversee management of Raiser’s Edge database
  • Oversee manual and online gift entry processes as well as gift receipting
  • Assist with other special projects as needed


  • Individual must be recognized by HOPEww as being a spiritually fit Christian holding to fundamental Christian principles
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in related field preferred
  • Three years of work experience preferred
  • Continual attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong written communication skills and a high level of professionalism
  • Knowledge of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets and/or database software (MS Word, MS Excel, Raiser’s Edge)
