Come join us for the first annual Christian Counseling Conference being held in Lancaster, California from August 18-19, 2017. Understanding mental health is a great need in our spiritual family. We are also in grave need of understanding counseling approaches for both professionals in the field and for church members.

Disciples often have questions about mental health, including how to find a therapist and whether to take medication. Disciples who are therapists are often looking for resources of support and training. There are deep concerns about how to deal with depression and anxiety as a disciple and how to seek and provide treatment that honors religious beliefs while holding to the ethics and laws required by state licensure boards. Therapists, ministry leaders, and church members are involved in helping families who have concerns about their children’s safety and their spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional health. When individuals have challenges with substance abuse or sexuality, it can be difficult to know where to get help and how to improve how that help is provided. Finding answers and providing care that is professionally and biblically sound can be challenging.

We ask you to join us on this journey of learning about how to best provide care and learning what kind of care is out there. The Friday program includes classes for all professionally licensed therapists, counselors, registered interns, and psychology students who work or are training in the field of mental health. The Saturday program is for professionals as well as ministry and leadership staff and any interested member wanting to know more about a biblical approach to mental health.

Presenters will be speaking on areas of specialty such as youth, law, sexuality, crisis and suicide, depression and anxiety, Christianity and psychology, substance use, grief, anger management, medication, answers for parents, and ministry staff and therapist collaboration.

Speakers include Dr. Gregg Marutzky, Cathy Marutzky, LPCC, Dr. Glinda Sullivan, Dr. Timothy Sumerlin, Mike Newman, MFT, David Bruce, MFT, Larry Wong, MFT, Ken Long, MFT, Todd Spath, MFT, Dr. John Oakes, and Dr. Jennifer Konzen.
